Automobiles in Germany's Town Discovered Smeared with Swastikas in Blood, Police Confirm

Police mentioned they were alerted by a man who discovered a car in Hanau covered with red-colored substance

Roughly 50 cars have been covered with what seems to be human blood in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.

Vehicles, walls and mailboxes were vandalized, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they announced in a statement.

Police report they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a resident noticed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish fluid.

The liquid had been placed in the shape of a banned symbol, they reported.

Police then discovered multiple other vandalized vehicles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.

Swastikas are banned in Germany under laws banning the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.

Law enforcement report early analysis suggest the fluid was most likely human blood.

"At present there remains no indication as to its source; investigators are currently not cognizant of any physical harm in relation with the occurrence," they stated.

Local authorities said they were attempting "to solve the incident" and have requested to the residents for information.

An important political figure stated the incident rendered him without words and had to be addressed promptly.

"This event affects the core of Hanau and revives the pain of the extremist terrorist attack in 2020," he wrote on a platform, mentioning the killing of nine individuals by a assailant targeting individuals of migrant background in five years prior.
