19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been earned on hardcourt

A resurgent the Russian player won his initial championship for nearly 30 months with a win over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The athlete, a former number one, has experienced a challenging year, achieving just a single victory at the big events and suffering a setback at the US Open.

The player's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serving in especial - resulted in him falling of the elite rankings and ultimately splitting with long-term trainer Gilles Cervara.

Currently training with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily progressed in the past month - peaking in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over opponent Moutet.

This represents his first title following the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hardcourt from that period of 2023.

The win also means he has secured twenty-one victories at twenty-one various competitions.

"For the first time I have attended a competition with my both daughters simultaneously, so to get a title is particularly special," stated world number 14 the champion.

"This title is in dedication of my second daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I won when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his previous six title deciders, featuring in Halle in the past months.

Medvedev's counter-punching approach and recurring outbursts on the playing surface had caused commentators to wonder if his skill to perform at the elite level was finished.

Yet the athlete has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, attempting to come to the net and play positively, reinforced by an better serve.

He fought back from a deficit in the initial set against the challenging Moutet, winning four of the final five points to go ahead.

The competitors exchanged breaks in the middle set before the challenger, striving for his maiden professional victory, gained dominance to force a third set.

Moutet saved 4 early-game opportunities in a close third set before the Russian broke to 15 to close out the victory.

Appropriately, he earned the title with a shot at the net area, with Moutet incapable to control a volley after over two and a half hours.
